Greetings!!!
I am hanging out at my next resort: LIPA BAY RESORT on Lipa Noi Beach
( https://dude.ly/lipabayresort ) here on the island of Samui.

The beach here is TOTALLY AWESOME! and taking an hour long walk is uninterrupted in one direction. Taking long walks on the beach is indeed one of my many favorite past times.
Lipa Noi Beach is on the west side of the island so sunsets are quite gorgeous. It is also less than a 15 minute motorbike ride from here up to Nathon Town where the SEATRAN ferry port is so I’ll have an easy time just dropping my motorbike off and walking right on the ferry. That will either occur tomorrow or the next day… I haven’t really decided with this part of my vacation will end and the next “vacation” will start.
Its a blessed life and as you may have heard me mention before I’m, overwhelmed with gratitude! Frequently. And this beach walk is no exception.

I had a great call this morning with a buddy of mine who just got a new job.
Considering everything that is happening, certainly in the USA as it relates to employment and UNemployment it was awesome to hear!
I’m hardly perfect but its a good feeling when I can feel happy for someone else and have no expectation of getting anything in return. That probbbaly comes with age, or maturity, or whatever you want to label it. As I walk along the beach of a little cove that many people might label as paradise, I ONCE AGAIN realized how lucky I am.

Being the exploring step counters that we are, Gracie and I headed toward the northern part of the island to the Chinese Temple and Buddha’s Footprint.
Along the way, I came across a cave and wanted to show you, based upon my VERY limited experience and knowledge on the process, how I’ve come to appreciate small portions of the “ceremony” of prayer and giving merit. NOTE: the process that I show in this video is but a SMALL subset of the process of giving merit and asking Buddha for good luck, etc.

“North of the harbor is a Chinese Temple known as Saan Chao Pho Khao Yai or Shrine of the Father Spirit of the Great Hill. Discovered during the Ming Dynasty by Chinese seafarers it still attracts thousands of Chinese pilgrims from Thailand and across Asia. The temple gets especially busy during Chinese New Year when boatloads of Chinese Buddhists attend on pilgrimage. The Father Spirit is a large rock inside a cave that has naturally worn into the shape of a human figure.
Other shrines within the temple are dedicated to the famous monkey that accompanied Hsuan Tsang during his pilgrimage from China to India during the seventh century and Guan Yin ‘The Goddess of Mercy’.

Next to the temple is a steep pathway with over 500 steps leading to another magnificent shrine housing a copy of the Buddha’s footprint. There are panoramic views from the shrine across the island and the sea towards the mainland.

While I’m out and about, letting the time lapse do its thing back in my hotel room, I like to be able to charge my devices. To take advantage of the “always on” outlets in the rooms here in Thailand that have the All Power Off electricity-saving feature whereby you leave your key/card in a slot while IN the room and all power is ON but then when you leave, and take the key with you, all the power goes out. Normally this eliminates any opportunity to charge any devices while your gone, UNLESS, you travel with an inexpensive power strip and plug everything into the ALWAYS ON outlet(s). These are usually behind the ‘fridge or TV. When theses items are not easily moved, I traditionally don’t bother but if they can be moved and/or unplugged without causing any problems then I take advantage of this power and use my power strip!
